Liverpool's Egyptian winger Salah shortlisted for PFA Player of the Year prize

David Silva, Leroy Sane and Kevin De Bruyne who all play for Manchester City.

Salah has had a remarkable first season at Liverpool scoring 29 goals in the Premier League, four ahead of Harry Kane.

Meanwhile in the young player department, three Man City stars lead the nominations as Ederson, Raheem Sterling and the aforementioned Leroy Sane made the cut.

Their brilliance in City's outstanding Premier League campaign to date has been recognised by their peers, with Tottenham striker Harry Kane, Liverpool forward Mohamed Salah and Manchester United goalkeeper David De Gea making up the six-man shortlist for the award.

The victor for the prestigious award will be voted for by PFA members and the results will be announced on April 22.

While Kevin De Bruyne and Co. may well lift the league title, but Mohamed Salah can safely say he's been carrying an entire team on his shoulders.

However, Salah has emerged as a real challenger to the Belgian after maintaining his outstanding form in the Premier League.

Sane and Silva have 12 and 11 assists respectively in the Premier League. He also led Liverpool not only in the PL but also in the Champions League, playing a big role in defeating Manchester City at the quarter-finals.

While the main award of the PFA Player of the Year takes the main headlines, the Young player of the Year is still a highly prestigious and coveted award.

Manchester United goalkeeper David De Gea has been given the nod after yet another fantastic season in betwen the posts at Old Trafford.

City team-mate Sterling has been impressive in front of goal this term, and his 16 league strikes place him joint fourth in the competition.

While you wouldn't automatically assume Kane would be included in this list, its easy to forget how young he still is.
