Jets bring back McCown, close on Bridgewater

After replacing an injured Sam Bradford, Keenum was able to hold off Teddy Bridgewater and ended up going 12-4 as the starter (including playoffs) for NFC North champion Minnesota.

Bridgewater, formerly a Minnesota Vikings starter, agreed to a one-year contract, a source told ESPN's Chris Mortensen.

In case you missed it, the New York Jets were able to re-sign quarterback Josh McCown for a one-year/$10 million contract to return next season.

The New York Jets did not stop addressing the quarterback position after agreeing to re-sign veteran Josh McCown on Tuesday.

With McCown, Bridgewater, Bryce Petty, and Christian Hackenberg all now signed with the Jets, it's expected more changes are coming to the most important position on the team.

It didn't take very long for the National Football League quarterback carousel to kick into high gear as the top targets on the market - Kirk Cousins and Case Keenum - found new homes on Tuesday.

As for the current roster, the deal likely spells bad news for either Bryce Petty or Christian Hackenberg.

McCown, who'll turn 39 in July, had a career season past year while setting individual highs with 2,926 yards passing and 18 touchdowns, and quickly established himself as a respected leader in the locker room. NY had prioritized Cousins but he has reportedly agreed to a three-year deal with the Vikings.

The deal was reported the day before. He had 3,118 yards rushing and 21 TDs with 96 catches for 770 yards and a score in four years with the Browns.

The Jets were looking to add a running back after the retirement of Matt Forte.

Bridgewater, 25, has attempted just two passes since tearing his ACL in 2016. They only had Bryce Petty and Joel Stave under contract, meaning NY will likely want to find one more body for competition or depth. The Jets weren't expected to competitive in 2017-18 but played above expectations, albeit winning only five regular-season games and finishing in the cellar of the AFC East.
