Russian Figure Skater Evgenia Medvedeva to Meet EXO

Yet, Alina only entered worldwide competition a year ago, according to CNN. All she did then was win both her regular Grand Prix events, the Grand Prix Final and the European championship. The country has not yet won a gold medal at the 2018 Winter Olympics, but either Zagitova or Medvedeva could be the first.

"I hear so many news that Alina Zagitova and Yevgenia Medvedeva are opponents on the ice and off the ice", she said.

Medvedeva, 18, who is competing in the Olympics for the first time, holds world records in the free program (160.46) and the sum of two programs (241.31). Sidelined for two seasons by back injuries, the 20-year-old emerged seemingly out of nowhere to win bronze at Skate America in November, and she hasn't looked back since. Once again, it was Zagitova who came out on top, heading into Friday's free skate with a slight advantage over Medvedeva.

The 15-year-old, one of the favourites for the women's singles gold medal at the Winter Olympic Games here, began her practice session at the Gangneung Ice Arena before the drug testers arrived. The U.S. Figure Skating Association banned her for life after her motley crew of hangers-on bashed Nancy Kerrigan's knee in 1994, launching one of the most freakish sports stories ever.

Medvedeva and Zagitova will compete against Canada's Kaetlyn Osmond, who placed third, and a field of 21 other competitors Friday in the women's free skate. She won the Grand Prix final earlier this season with Medvedeva out injured.

Medvedeva skated in the short program and notched the highest score ever recorded at 81.06 points.

Chen was clutch at last year's worlds, finishing fourth to help the US get three Olympic spots. Kostner and Osmond finished 2-3 behind Medvedeva in the team event short program.

"If I had done a double, I would have been more angry with myself for not going for it", she said, tears welling.

"I'm good friends with Alina, I practise together with her and talk with her all the time". Alina, skating to "Black Swan", hit three triple jumps (including a triple Lutz and triple loop, according to Huffington Post) to score 82.92 points.

The reigning USA champion is skating first in the short program, the spot usually reserved for up-and-comers with no chance of a medal. For her free skate, to Afternoon of a Faun, she may be wearing a spangled green jumpsuit that has already prompted comparisons to Gumby. I think Zagitova's momentum and overall strength and consistency gives her an edge. She is in 11th place with a score of 64.01.

The fever accompanying the 2018 Winter Olympics in PyeongChang is nearly over, but it's not going to break before some of the most anticipated competitions are completed. "We feel the rivalry when we come to competition but it is not maleficent". She earned 66.93 points, a season's best, but not likely to put her in position for the podium as she ended the short program in ninth place. She even visibly sings along to some of the Japanese lyrics from the show's original opening credits.

I see four other major contenders.
