CHAN: Anthony Okpotu dropped as Gabriel Okechukwu starts vs Morocco

The last goal was delivered by Ayoub El Kaabi who scored a fourth goal for the Moroccan team at the 73rd minute.

The CHAN Super Eagles got thrashed by hosts, Morocco in a 4-0 loss and Coach of the Nigerian side, Salisu Yusuf has accepted the blame for the huge loss in the final on Sunday.

Morocco host Nigeria Sunday in an eagerly anticipated final at the 65,000-capacity Stade Mohammed V in Casablanca with a record $1.25 million (about one million euros) first prize at stake.

This is the best performance ever by Nigeria at the CHAN tournament.

Adepoju told The Guardian yesterday that scoring early goal would go a long way in disorganising the Moroccan players who would be banking on home advantage to secure victory in the encounter.

El Kaabi was at it again eight minutes later, rattling Nigeria's crossbar with an acrobatic effort as the hosts searched for the opener.

Immediately after the final whistle, King Mohammed VI sent a message of congratulations to the team, expressing his joy and pride at the players' achievement that crowns, he said, the lovely performance and high competitiveness they have shown during all the stages of this continental tournament.

In other fixtures, Nigeria won 1-0 against Sudan through Gabriel Okechukwu's 16th minute goal.

Nigeria, third in the 2014 tournament in South Africa, were dealt a huge blow just four minutes after the restart when Peter Eneji was sent-off for a second bookable offence.

El Kaabi had a goal disallowed and struck the woodwork before Hadraf sidefooted a cut-back between the legs of goalkeeper Oladele Ajiboye for a 45th-minute lead.

Hadraf completed his brace two minutes later after Ajiboye made a weak touch of a Haddad cross, and the former tapped home the rebound to take the game beyond the Nigerians.
