USA Gymnastics Board To Quit Over Larry Nassar Abuse

Dozens of Michigan State University students are gathering at a spot on campus to protest the school's handling of sexual abuse allegations against its disgraced former sports doctor, Larry Nassar. "This investigation is and will continue to be independent, it will be thorough, it will be transparent, and it will be prompt". Michigan State players said Izzo acknowledged the reports prior to Friday's game but asked his players to stay focused on basketball.

ESPN released today an in-depth investigative story about two hours after athletic director Mark Hollis' announcement, and scrutinized the way both Izzo and football coach Mark Dantonio handled allegations of sexual assault against their players. He said by the end of this investigation, there will be a report that will be public for all to read.

He added: "I'm definitely not retiring".

Dantonio also said he would not resign, and was there to "look the people" who instigated the reports "in the eye".

According to a Detroit News investigation, reports of sexual misconduct by Nassar reached at least 14 MSU representatives in the two decades before his arrest, with no fewer than eight women reporting his actions.

"Quite frankly, I think that's in part what got Michigan State in some trouble here in the sense that they withheld certain information - maybe because it was going to put them in a better light", Forsyth said.
