Palestinians accuse Israel of using US Mideast policy to speed up settlement

All Israeli settlements in the occupied West Bank are seen as illegal under global law and major obstacles to peace as they are built on land the Palestinians see as part of their future state. Shevah lived in the nearby Gilad Farm outpost. "Look no further (as) to why there is no peace..."

Fourteen Palestinians have been killed and hundreds wounded since in clashes with Israeli occupation forces since Trump's announcement.

The military said forces were conducting searches in a neighboring village for the suspect behind the shooting death this week of an Israeli man when Palestinians hurled a "massive" amount of rocks at them. "We value your partnership in the fight against terror and your understanding that the Palestinian Authority's support of terrorists lies at the root of the problem".

Last month, the European Union urged the Israeli regime to stop plans for the construction of new settler units in the occupied West Bank, warning that such moves undermine peace efforts.

Rabbi Raziel Shevach, a father of six children and resident of Havat Gilad, was shot multiple times in his neck and upper body in a drive-by shooting attack.

Israeli officials strongly denounced the attack, including those calling for punitive measures against Palestinians, such as the demolition of the homes of the attackers.

Those without approval are referred to as outposts and are typically populated by hardline religious nationalists who see the entire West Bank as part of Israel.

Trump's December 6 announcement that he would move the U.S. Embassy from Israel's commercial capital to Jerusalem reversed decades of U.S. foreign policy and upset Palestinians and the global community alike. One Israeli has been killed in a Palestinian attack.

Meanwhile, Israeli Deputy Foreign Minister, Tzipi Hotovely, responded to Ambassador Friedman's tweet, thanking the United States for standing with Israel and for trying to bring an end to the Palestinian Authority's sponsorship of terrorism.

Israeli forces also detained 12 Palestinians in Jerusalem, including the head of the Prisoners Club in Jerusalem, alongside seven others in the West Bank city of Jenin.

Israeli officials say payments to the families of attackers encourages further violence and have regularly called for a halt to them.
