Manchester United v Derby County

Manchester United and Liverpool are through to the fourth round of this season's FA Cup.

Lingard breaks the deadlock on 84′.

Derby finds itself in good position to secure promotion to the Premier League, as the Rams sit second in the Championship with 49 points.

Manchester United (4-3-3): Romero; Lindelof, Jones, Rojo, Blind; Herrera, Matic, Pogba; Lingard, Rashford, Mata.

Pogba was off target with a ninth-minute curler while Rashford was similarly wide from an ambitious effort with 17 minutes on the clock.

Marcus Olsson had Derby's first chance in the 22nd minute, and Sergio Romero had to be alert to tip over the crossbar.

Rashford headed against the Derby post in the 34th minute, before heading straight at Carson three minutes later as the score somehow stayed goalless.

Tom Huddlestone had a 50th minute shot deflect wide for a corner, before Carson was forced to save from Mata at the other end.

Derby County made a very strong start to the second-half and were clearly growing in confidence; but still living dangerously as Mata, Lukaku and Pogba all had shots saved, blocked and fired narrowly wide respectively five minutes after the restart.

The Red Devils hit the woodwork again minutes later from Romelu Lukaku's header, but a goal wouldn't have counted anyway as the big Belgian was ruled offside.

Tom Lawrence almost sent Derby ahead two minutes before the hour with a thumping shot from just outside the box but Sergio Romero made a brilliant save at the bottom corner. Chances kept coming for both sides, but Pogba was unable to beat Carson with a shot on the hour mark and another curling effort minutes later.

But Jose Mourinho's side never gave up, with Lingard finally finding the back of the net in the 84th minute after a superb strike from outside the box into the top corner of the net.

Lukaku, who showed no ill-effects following his return from a head injury, then doubled the home side's lead in the final moments when he converted after smart work from fellow substitute Anthony Martial.
