Indian Congress MLA Asha Kumari slaps woman constable, gets it back

Congress MLA from Dalhousie and All India Congress Committee (AICC) secretary Asha Kumari on Friday courted a controversy after she slapped a woman constable outside the party office in Shimla. The constable, clearly not one to take things lying down, slapped her right back.

Congress President Rahul Gandhi is on a day-long visit to Shimla today and will review the party's performance in the recently-held Himachal Pradesh assembly election.

Blaming the PCC for mismanagement at the party's office gate, Kumari added, "I can only blame myself for the unsavoury incident". A local Congress worker present at the scene of the altercation told APN Live that the lady cop apparently didn't recognise Kumari - a senior Congress MLA and former cabinet minister of Himachal Pradesh - and denied her entry, enraging her.

In her complaint, the MLA also stated that she could not file the complaint on Friday itself as she had to attend an important meeting.

"I am not happy with it". When I raised my hand for defence, she has termed that as "slap" than I don't know the rest.

The matter was highlighted after the woman constable slapped Kumari back in a fit of rage. However, she said the constable pushed her and abused her.
