Mark Hamill Remembers 'Star Wars' Co-Star Carrie Fisher In Touching Tribute

Mark Hamill took to Twitter on Tuesday to apologize for his recent comments criticizing director Rian Johnson's portrayal of Luke Skywalker in "Star Wars: The Last Jedi".

Hamill also marked the one-year anniversary of Carrie Fisher's death with a picture collage, accompanied by the message: "No one's ever really gone ..."

The post was accompanied by photos of Hamill and Fisher as well as a sketch of Fisher famously flipping the bird as she holds her beloved dog Gary.

Hamill marked the first anniversary of his close friend's death with a photomontage, which saw an early shot of them together twinned with one of them starring in the latest instalment in the sci-fi series, The Last Jedi, reports The Sun.

Yet in a video interview for IMDb.com, posted December 13, Hamill appeared to show a change of heart.

Carrie Fisher's performance as Leia Organa is something so monumental it can not even be put into words.

Fisher would appear in many more movies throughout her career - including notable hits like The Blues Brothers and When Harry Met Sally - but it was always her role in Star Wars that provided her greatest success. "YES! Wow, good eyes!" he wrote in response to a tweeter who asked, "@rianjohnson we @FanthaTracks want to know if you can confirm this cute little creature is #spacegary in #TheLastJedi". Quotes like "I have to say, having seen the movie, I was wrong" and " I came to really believe that Rian was the exact man that they needed for this job" place Hamill's conflicts about Luke in context.

In an interview posted by Vanity Fair magazine in May, Hamill - recalled, "I at one point had to say to Rian, 'I pretty much fundamentally disagree with every choice you've made for this character". All I wanted was to make good movie. "I used to think I was a drug addict, pure and simple - just someone who could not stop taking drugs willfully", she told ABC News in 2000.
