Hillary Clinton Named Most Admired Woman, Again

Former President Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton have retained their titles as the man and woman most admired by Americans out of anyone in the entire world.

Obama edged out President Donald Trump 17 to 14 percent, marking the second year in a row Obama beat Trump for the distinction.

Clinton has topped the list 16 years running and taken the top spot 22 times total, which Gallup said was more than anyone else - man or woman.

On the women's side, former first lady Michelle Obama just barely trailed behind Hillary Clinton in clinching the second spot with 7 percent.

Gallup, which has conducted its poll to determine the most admired person in the country 71 times since 1946 determines results "based on telephone interviews conducted December 4-11, 2017, with a random sample of 1,049 adults, aged 18 and older, living in all 50 US states and the District of Columbia", according to Gallup.

Although Trump won easily among Republicans, with 35 percent naming him as the man they admire most, Obama led among both Democrats, with 39 percent naming him, and independents, with 12 percent saying they admire him most, according to the results.

Oprah Winfrey, who some say is rumored to be considering a run for President, comes in as the third most admired woman this year.

Barack Obama's numbers were down from 22 percent the previous year, but he was the first former president to win since Dwight D. Eisenhower did so in 1967 and 1968.

The survey from Gallup has taken place every year since 1946, and rounding off a decade at the top, the former United States president came out as America's choice again.

Pope Francis finished third, with 3%.

"Clinton's and Obama's standings this year are more tenuous than in the past", Gallup reported. The next winningest woman is Eleanor Roosevelt, at 13 times. "She managed to win this year because she remains arguably more prominent than other contenders".
