IDF pummels Hamas targets in Gaza in response to rocket attacks

Two men on a motorcycle were reportedly killed in a drone strike carried out by the Israeli military in the Gaza Strip Tuesday, according to Palestinian media reports.

"The people who it harms the most are the residents of Gaza", Zamir said.

Palestinians say the two killed were members of the Al-Quds Brigade, the military wing of Islamic Jihad.

Palestinians and Israeli forces have clashed across the West Bank and along the Gaza border following President Donald Trump's recognition of Jerusalem as Israel's capital.

"Despite the reports of the Palestinian side, the Israeli army did not launch strikes on northern Gaza strip", the statement issued by the Israel Defense Forces reads.

The IDF responded to the attack with tank and aircraft fire towards Hamas targets in the south of the Gaza Strip.

A network of Gaza tunnels allowed Hamas gunmen to blindside Israel's superior forces during the 2014 war and the Israelis, with United States help, have since stepped up work on counter-measures. "The IDF holds Hamas responsible for these aggressive acts originating from the Gaza Strip". A third rocket was intercepted by an Iron Dome system. In the process of that demolition, 10 gunmen from the group and another two from Hamas were killed - deaths that Israeli sources described as an unintended result of the passage's collapse within Gazan turf.
