IDF Located, Neutralized New Terror Tunnel Crossing into Israel

The IDF used explosives to destroy another tunnel from Gaza on October 30, killing at least seven Palestinians.

The tunnel was "a blatant breach of Israel's sovereignty, an unacceptable situation which prompted the IDF's actions", the military said, and its exposure was "an operational success based on advanced technology, a testimony to the IDF's upgraded abilities".

It was blown up using a new method that does not require air strikes or explosions.

Besides the steps taken by the IDF against the terror tunnels, Hamas has restraint forces in order to prevent terrorists from closing in on areas near the Israeli border. The tunnel is believed to have belonged to the Hamas terror organization. It added that Hamas is the authority governing the Gaza Strip and as such is responsible for everything happening there. It now seems that there is a possibility to discover additional terror tunnels, which challenges Hamas from restraining itself. Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, speaking in Paris, described the new system as a "tremendous technological innovation".

Al-Qassam Brigades said in an official statement sent to reporters "we call upon our people to continue this Intifada, and to activate all means of resisting and confronting the occupation".

As well as tunnels under the border with Israel, there are also tunnels that run underneath Gaza's border with Egypt, which are used to smuggle in food and other supplies, as well as weapons. Identifying and destroying the tunnels became a major goal for the Israeli military, which found many tunnels that were more than a mile long and 60 feet deep.
