Saudi Arabia wants resolute anti-Iran stand from Arab League

The foreign ministers of the four Arab states met in the Egyptian capital Sunday ahead of an Arab League meeting later in the day.

"The Lebanese Republic, in spite of our relations with it as a brotherly Arab nation.is under the total control of this terrorist party", Sheikh Khalid said.

Israeli Minister of Energy and Water Resources Yuval Steinitz has recognized the existence of secret ties between Israel and "many" Muslim and Arab states, including Saudi Arabia.

His comments were the latest sign that behind-the-scenes links between Israel and Gulf countries may be occurring due to Iran , their shared enemy, even though they do not have formal diplomatic ties.

A diplomatic source said Riyadh was seeking to adopt a condemnation of "Iran and Arab militias linked to this country".

Saudi Arabia urged fellow Arab League nations to find a "non-compromise" solution to deal with "Iran's aggression" and "disregard for global law" during a specially-summoned foreign ministers' meeting in the Egyptian capital, Cairo.

Tensions between the Saudis and Iran have intensified in recent weeks, with Riyadh-backed Lebanese Prime Minister Saad al-Hariri saying he is stepping down over what he called Iran's grip on his country.

Saudi Arabia's powerful Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman has accused Iran of "direct military aggression" against the kingdom by supplying the Yemen rebels with ballistic missiles, but Tehran has denied any involvement.

Hezbollah is a partner to Lebanon's coalition government. "Worldwide law should be respected", he said.
