Ceremonies held around the Metro to honor Veterans

The grand opening of Cohoes Veterans Memorial Park will be held Saturday, Veterans Day, will begin with a flag raising followed by the park renaming dedication and ribbon cutting.

For those who can't attend, the Courier will be showing live video of the parade from the newspaper office on Main Street.

While Veterans Day is on Saturday, the city of Paducah held their ceremony and parade on Friday. At 11 a.m., the 16th annual Elk Grove Veterans Day Parade will proceed south on Elk Grove Florin Road to Elk Grove Regional Park.

This year's parade route begins at the Hardin County Courthouse and ends in front of Savannah City Hall at Hanna Boulevard.

As part of creating the veterans park, the city moved the Vietnam Memorial on Columbia Street and the Spanish-American War Memorial in Canal Square Park to the site.

"Today - and every day - we honor the valiant, courageous and dedicated men and women who have served our nation in the armed services", Denver Mayor Michael Hancock said.

The San Antonio Symphony, U.S. Air Force Band of the West and the 323 Army Band Fort Sam's Own are scheduled to perform. Div. Soldier.
