Kid Rock tells Howard Stern he's not running for Senate

The singer not only revealed that his "campaign" was a joke, but during a Tuesday morning (Oct. 24) interview with Howard Stern, he also mocked anyone who believed in it.

Kid Rock also announced on The Howard Stern Show a new, 2018 tour that will kick off January 19 in Nashville before wrapping up March 24 in Las Vegas.

Kid Rock will also release "Sweet Southern Sugar" on November 3, his first album recorded in Nashville and his first album since 2015.

Rock said the Senate idea - which he has publicly toyed with for months - was a mixed blessing.

Rock - born Robert James Ritchie - had made news earlier this year when he publicly mulled a U.S. Senate run in his native MI.

Rock said the summer and fall con was "the most creative thing I've ever done". In recent months, he had delved into politics during speeches at concerts.

Rock, in terms so vulgar as to be absurd, added he might run in the future "if the left wing keeps f-ing with me".

Kid Rock later said he was putting off a decision whether he would run and would focus on voter registration.

The stunt worked. His "bid for U.S. Senate" was covered by the press around the U.S.

The L.A. Times headlined another piece, No joke: Kid Rock is a competitive candidate for the U.S. Senate in MI.

"No, we're not doing it", he said, "but let's roll with it for a while".
