With a five-inch, 1080p display, Pixel 2 is the smaller of the devices, featuring a screen whose aspect ratio is the formerly standard 16:9. The original Pixel and Pixel XL handsets designed and sold by the search giant, and billed it as the best premium smartphone in the Android ecosystem.

No pricing has been leaked yet but with the full Google Home priced at $200 we expect this to come in a lot cheaper, priced to go up against the Amazon Echo Dot (~$60US). There are a number of rumors that the stylus pen will retail for around $100 separately. The devices will likely be available as a Verizon national carrier exclusive, and as an unlocked GSM model and through Google's Project Fi network.

To coincide with the announcement, Google has also dropped a couple of hints.

But, now most of the focus of company is glued on the new Manhattan device. Exactly year later, the Mountain View-based technology company is prepping up to unveil the next iterations of its smartphones, the Pixel 2 and Pixel XL 2.

This time around, Google's hardware foray has been measured.

The sources reported that this new device by Google has internally been codenamed as "Manhattan" with having a similar size of screen as the Amazon's 7 inch Echo Show.
