Senior running back Ty Isaac rushed for 133 yards on 20 carries to help lead No. 8 MI to a 36-14 win over Cincinnati in its home opener on Saturday. The other two phases are a work in progress as well, especially the offense.

It may not be the most high-profile game of a loaded Week 2 slate, but Cincinnati's visit to MI is an intriguing noon matchup with several storylines to keep an eye on for both sides.

Fifth-year senior running back Ty Isaac got the start after a strong performance against Florida and did not disappoint.

John Kelly ran for 80 yards and caught five passes for 60 yards to lead the Volunteers (2-0) in rushing and receiving. MI is 5-2 against the spread in their last 7 non-conference games and 5-1 ATS in their last 6 games in September.

The first came on an attempted end-around to Crawford, and blame could be placed on both players, while the second came at the 3-yard line in the second quarter.

Crawford led the MI receiving corps with four catches for a career-best 83 yards and a touchdown (he only had four catches for 47 yards all of last year). Hayden Moore completed 17 of 28 passes for 151 yards and three touchdowns. That's something it will have to improve on when the competition starts getting more challenging.

We have yet to see MI face an elite offense, but if the Wolverines are going to be a CFP contender, this defense is the reason why.

Cincinnati running back Mike Boone made headlines early in the week by predicting that the Bearcats would "shock the world" in Ann Arbor.

MI then went ahead 36-14 with 4:21 left in the game on a 24-yard interception return for a touchdown by sophomore cornerback Lavert Hill.

· ESPN NFL Insider and 1989 University of MI graduate Adam Schefter served as the Wolverines' honorary captain.

Last week, Moore's team had a good game against the Austin Peay Governors, beating them at 26-14.

· The attendance of Saturday's game was 111,384.
