Microsoft discontinues the sales of Xbox One in the United States

The latest update on Xbox One sales comes from the world's largest video game retailer, GameStop, which characterized the console as "lagging" compared to the competition. The US site only has a listing for refurbed versions, while they're marked as "Out of Stock" in the United Kingdom store. Now, one year later, Microsoft has stopped carrying the system in its online store outside of refurbished systems. There's a lot of fluff and a few quotes about how fast the pre-orders sold out globally, but that doesn't really give us any indication at all about the actual numbers.

Last week, Microsoft finally made the Xbox One X available for pre-order and the new console quickly sold out. Imagine you're playing on Xbox One and your friend has the same game on PC, another one has it on PlayStation and another one uses Nintendo Switch.

Should you still have your original Xbox One from 2013, congratulations - you now have a collector's item!

It seems Microsoft's upcoming flagship console is well on its way to besting all previous consoles released by the company.

In an interview with Rocket Beans TV: Mr. Greenberg said: "We know that most loyal fans will make the Xbox One X pre-orders digitally on Internet sites, and therefore wanted to produce for them a special edition console".

Last year, Microsoft release the Xbox One S model, with some interior improvements along with a slightly smaller sized console.

It is now being speculated that these games could have been part of the old listing for backwards compatible Xbox 360 games for Xbox One.

PlayStation executive Jim Ryan reveals that the main reason for the delay - or rather not going ahead with the cross-play between PS4 and Xbox One for Minecraft - was the safety of its users. But if you're on the market for an Xbox One, the One S is the sweet spot right now. The One S is indeed a superior machine than the original Xbox One.
