Taylor Swift ends social media mystery, announces new album 'Reputation'

Swift has been rumored to be working on a new album for a while, and multiple sources confirmed to Variety that Swift would release new music on Friday.

The album cover has her name over and over again.

.

It was five days ago now that the country-superstar-turned-pop-superstar wiped clean her social media accounts, erasing many happy squad memories in the process, to begin the sniper-like (viper-like?) calibration of Reputation's unveiling.

Swift last released a new album, 1989, in 2014.

Then, on Wednesday, August 23, Swift posted another message at 10:00 a.m., which can be seen below.

Her announcement coincides with the Video Music Awards, which Taylor has a long history with, from Kanye's much-discussed stage invasion during her acceptance speech in 2009. Reputation is due out on November 10, while its first single will drop on Thursday (Aug. 24), sometime at night. Beginning this week, three cryptic videos were posted exquisite corpse-style, gradually revealing the body of a snake.

"1989" also earned the Grammy for Album of the Year, making Swift the first woman until Adele to win the top music industry prize twice. Genius listed a potential new Taylor Swift song called "Timeless" as "coming soon".

What is clear, however, is that Swift is ready to reclaim and reinvent her image with her upcoming record.

It seems the best clue has come from one of her collaborators Joseph Kahn, who directed her iconic Bad Blood and Wildest Dreams music videos.

"She's aiming to release an album this fall", a source told Us Weekly magazine in May. It's a likely reference to her many celebrity feuds, and how she's striking back after lying low.

However, she embarked on epic world tours to mark both of her previous album releases, and graced British shores each time.
