Baby named 'Eclipse' born at Greenville Memorial; more solar newborns welcomed

- A baby girl born Monday in SC, hours before the total solar eclipse, has been legally named Eclipse, FOX Carolina reported.

As a nice touch, all of the babies born at Greenville Memorial on the big day of the total solar eclipse - including Eclipse and 10 others as of Monday afternoon - were gifted a special eclipse-themed onesie, all of which sport emoji-esque suns wearing sunglasses.

She was due to give birth on September 3 but instead went into labour early and had her baby at Greenville Memorial Hospital.

The parents had planned to name their daughter Violet. The new earthling weighed in at 6 pounds, 3 ounces, measured 19 inches long and sported a full head of hair.

Since this was the first coast-to-coast total solar eclipse in almost a century, Eclipse's parents figured her name should be just as rare and meaningful.

At the last minute, both Freedom and Michael Eubanks made a decision to mark the event with a special first name.

"Just on the drive here, trying to keep her mind off the contractions, I was like "Hey!"

She added: 'We're probably going to call her Clipsey'.
