Eric Bolling Plans to Sue HuffPost Contributor Yashar Ali Over Harassment Story

Fox News host Eric Bolling is now suspended from the network after a report was published last Friday that he sent photos of his "genitalia" to female co-workers years ago.

Huffington Post contributing writer Yashar Ali said Wednesday he received a summons from Bolling's lawyers. Bolling's notice accuses Ali of "efforts to injure the plaintiff's reputation through the intentional and/or highly reckless publication of actionable false and misleading statements about the plaintiff's conduct and character".

Ali promised to "stand by [his] reporting" and "protect [his] sources" in a tweet responding to the lawsuit Wednesday.

"Overwhelmed by all the support I have received", Bolling tweeted Monday.

Bolling and his attorney have ardently denied the allegations.

Bolling's suit, as Ali noted, does not name HuffPost, an entity that could conceivably pay the damages that Bolling seeks.

In addition to HuffPost, Ali writes for Mother Jones and NY magazines.

Bolling's accusations were only addressed in a summons in Manhattan Supreme Court.

Bolling was suspended from Fox News after being accused of sending unsolicited photos of male genitalia to several colleagues at various departments over a span of several years. HuffPost, which was not named in the lawsuit, issued a statement saying, "Ali is a careful and meticulous reporter".

Bolling has made some off-color remarks during his time at the network, including a report about the first woman fighter pilot from the United Arab Emirates who led a bombing of Islamic State group. "We stand by his reporting", HuffPost Editor-in-Chief Lydia Polgreen said in an article on the site.

Heldman claimed she had also been harassed by Bill O'Reilly and consultant Woody Fraser while a guest on the network. On one occasion when she was in town, he took her into his office and told her it was his favorite place to have sex, she said.

Onetime host Gretchen Carlson sent shock waves throughout the media in July 2016 with a suit against the network and Ailes alleging she was terminated for "refusing Ailes' sexual advances".

The suspension is the latest in a string of sexual harassment complaints against personalities who appear on Fox News and its business network. When Weiner pleaded guilty earlier this year to sending obscene material to an underage girl, Bolling said he was a "sick human being, to continue to do this time and time again". In addition to hosting "The Fox News Specialists", he anchors the business analysis program "Cashin' In".
