Dolphins QB Tannehill goes down with injury during practice

The Miami Dolphins' hopes of making the playoffs may have gone up in flames today during practice.

Tannehill and the Dolphins were awaiting the results of an MRI on his left knee after he limped off the field.

Tannehill appeared to land awkwardly while on the run.

Barry Jackson of the Miami Herald reported that the injury was to his leg after going out of bounds.

The hits just keep on coming for the Miami Dolphins during training camp.

Tannehill's season ended with a sprained ACL and MCL in his left knee in Week 14 of previous year when he took a hit from defensive lineman Calais Campbell of the Arizona Cardinals.

Tannehill missed the last three regular season games as well as the wild card game. Last season, Tannehill was 8-5 as a starter with a 93.5 passer rating, a career high in that category.

ESPN's Josina Anderson reports free agent Colin Kaepernick's "name was raised" in the Dolphins' front office as a potential Ryan Tannehill (knee) contingency. Matt Moore is next in line to take first team reps while Tannehill is out.
