Ray Lewis advises Colin Kaepernick to keep social activism private

On Sunday, Baltimore Ravens owner Steve Bisciotti said the team was still weighing whether to sign Kaepernick. Because of his political and social views, Kaepernick is a player who's become bigger than the game in the eyes of many.

"I do not have an update on Colin Kaepernick", Harbaugh told reporters Wednesday when asked for an update on the internal Kaepernick discussions, via ESPN.

The statement came in response to a report by ESPN's Diana Russini that Ravens head coach John Harbaugh and general manager Ozzie Newsome are in favor of signing Kaepernick, but met resistance from Bisciotti. "Whoever is making these claims is wrong".

Colin Kaepernick, who battled the Ravens in Super Bowl XLVII in 2013, is still a free agent.

The Ravens not only are talking to Kaepernick, but they're also considering bringing in former Washington Redskins and Cleveland Browns quarterback Robert Griffin III for a workout. "We're monitoring it, and we're trying to figure out what's the right tact". Their starting quarterback Joe Flacco is now out with a back injury, and backup Ryan Mallett had an abysmal practice last weekend littered with interceptions. "I think it would be a good spot for him". "It's an emotional, emotional issue for a lot of people, more so than any other issue I've run into". Current backup Ryan Mallett has struggled running the first-team offense, reportedly throwing five interceptions during Friday's practice.

"You can't really say exactly when or when we might decide", he said. He may have had the best of intentions, but Lewis ended up more or less rambling about the topic for two-plus minutes before encouraging Kaepernick to keep his activism to himself and concentrate on football.
