Frontier adds flights from Orlando to Midwest

The new flights to Islip, Austin and Providence will be on sale in the next six to eight weeks, with service beginning in spring 2018, a Frontier spokesman said. "And, then in the springtime, we'll be offering service between Buffalo and our home airport in Denver, Co., where connections will be possible throughout the Rocky Mountain region and the West Coast".

Frontier, known as a low cost air carrier, offers flights out of Tampa already to US destinations including Denver, Las Vegas, Cleveland, Trenton, Chicago, Philadelphia and Cincinnati. Frontier will offer flights as low as $39 one-way.

The new flights will give the airline the ability to serve more of the USA and make flying a truly affordable option, Barry Biffle the CEO said on Tuesday.

Tulsa and Oklahoma City were part of 21 new destinations and 85 new routes the company announced on Tuesday, according to a national report. The airline will operate the flight using 168-seat Airbus 320 aircraft. All of these routes, except for Colorado Springs, are already available at the Tampa airport through other carriers like Southwest.

The training location will serve the airline attendants who are based out of the Orlando, Philadelphia and Chicago airports.

The last time a new US airline came to Ontario International Airport was a decade ago.

"We have focused attention to adding service to the unserved markets of Cincinnati and San Jose for some time", said Russ Handy, aviation director for the city.

Last year, Frontier carried 35,091 travelers to and from the Broward County airport.

Dobberstein said the "magnitude" of Frontier's announcement was surprising, especially the number of new cities, but the brand's return to Fargo was expected. "The additional direct flights will stimulate travel, tourism and our regional economy", City Manager Tommy Gonzalez said.
