Gunman killed in NY hospital shooting

An armed doctor stormed Bronx-Lebanon Hospital Center Friday, gunning down at least six people, killing one of them, before turning the weapon on himself.

Police sources suggest that at least four people have been shot.

The New York Times reported that three doctors were among those shot. Someone inside the hospital posted this photo showing a barricaded door: People were seen leaving the hospital with their hands up, being led out by police.

Due to reports of a shooting incident at Bronx Lebanon Hospital, avoid the area of 1650 Grand Concourse.

The shooting appeared to be a possible case of workplace violence, William J. Bratton, the former NY police commissioner, said in an interview on MSNBC Friday afternoon.

A gunman who opened fire at the Bronx-Lebanon Hospital here, has been killed, media reports said.

Police identified the gunman as Henry Bello, a former doctor at the hospital.

NYPD in a tweet confirmed the ongoing situation. Its emergency room is among the busiest in New York City.
