Uber makes it easier to arrange trips for other riders

Details including the name, license plate number, and a link to track the drivers route will be sent to the rider via text message. They considered banning the companies because their leaders weren't willing to have their drivers undergo more background checks than mandated by the state.

Uber is encouraging the book-a-ride-for-someone-else behavior through distinct prompts for all parties: the Uber user, their loved one and the driver.

Meanwhile, Uber just last week added a tipping feature to its app, one of several changes the scandal-rocked company has announced of late to appease frustrated drivers.

From now on, when you request an Uber and set the location to a place other than your current coordinates, Uber will automatically ask you if you're requesting the ride for someone else.

The feature is landing today in 30 countries around the world, with "more coming soon", according to an Uber blog post. The driver will see the rider's name, and be able to contact the rider directly, too. Uber's product manager Kyle Miller told media that he believes this tool will be especially beneficial to folks who want to secure rides for elderly family members. Riders can simply pay in cash once they've arrived to their destination.

This isn't actually the first time that Uber has experimented with this type of feature.

It's worth taking note that Uber appears to be taking steps to make its services a bit more family-friendly.

Payment is processed at the end of the ride as usual, and is charged to the requestor's card on file. Although the feature is called Family Profiles, it can also be used by a group of friends or coworkers.
