However, the withdrawal is a precautionary measure and, as it stands, Murray still intends to take to the court on Friday to take on an as-yet-unnamed opponent, which would have been the second of his scheduled matches at the Aspall Tennis Classic.

'I think, yeah, I think we'd probably quite like to.

"I'm not rushing to call Andy up and ask him when he wants to play", Jamie said with a smile. "I don't know when that might happen but at the moment I'm happy playing with Bruno".

"I think the first time I came back as defending champion it did feel a little bit different".

The 30-year-old's build-up to Wimbledon has been far from ideal.
