Texas Mom Charged in Hot Car Deaths

The charges stem from the May 26 deaths of Randolph's 2-year-old daughter and 16-month-old son, when temperatures topped 96 degrees at the family's home in Weatherford, Texas, which is about 30 miles west of Fort Worth.

Cynthia Randolph was jailed Friday on two counts of causing serious bodily harm to a child.

The suspect allegedly told her children, 16-month-old Cavanaugh Ramirez and 2-year-old Juliet Ramirez, to get out of the auto and they refused. She says she thought they'd be able to get themselves out, so she went back to inside to smoke weed and fell asleep for hours.

Temperatures reportedly reached the mid 90's the day of the incident. A bond has not been set, and we don't know whether or not she's hired an attorney.

Be Civil - It's OK to have a difference in opinion but there's no need to be a jerk. "No more than an hour", she immediately said. The woman's arrest follows that of recent Kerr County, Texas mother, Amanda Hawkins whose two children also died after being left in a hot vehicle as the 19 year old teen 'partied'. After searching the house for about 30 to 40 minutes, Randolph eventually went outside the residence and discovered they had somehow managed to lock themselves inside her vehicle.

Around 4:30 p.m., medical responders who had arrived pronounced her children dead.

Ms. Randolph was booked into the Parker County Jail on Friday.

Randolph initially lied about what happened. Of those, three have been in North Texas, including the two Friday in Parker County.

As part of that story, Randolph claimed that she had been folding laundry and watching television when she realized that she could not hear the children playing anymore in an enclosed porch.

A mother has been charged over the deaths of her two young children after she locked them in a auto, and left them there.

After she found both children unresponsive, Randolph said she broke a window of the vehicle in an attempt to save the children, the release stated.

The group advises parents to put something they will need by their child's vehicle seat - a purse, wallet or phone, for example - as an additional reminder to check the back.
