Busy Aisha Tyler says goodbye to 'The Talk' after 6 years

Jun 16, 2017, 06:09

After six seasons on "The Talk", Aisha Tyler is giving up her gig as co-host. It was already hectic, but now that she has an opportunity to direct her first feature film, she had to make the hard decision to let something go.

So, she said through tears, she had to let something go-and The Talk, which shoots 11 months out of the year, had to be that thing.

Tyler directed the film Axis, provided the voice for Lana Kane on Archer and plays Dr. Tara Lewis on Criminal Minds.

The Talk airs on CBS weekdays at 2 p.m. ET.

But viewers haven't seen the last of Tyler, as she promised to come back to guest-host, and to promote her shows and movies at her old stomping ground. "I love being with you every day and I love being out here with you every day".

"I have had an fantastic six years with you guys", Tyler said to her co-hosts. I'll never be able to thank you guys enough'.

But Tyler recently got the chance to direct a feature film.

Aisha struggled to contain her emotions as she broke the news and cried. She launched a Kickstarter campaign a year ago to fund her feature directorial debut, "Axis", about an Irish actor, taking place on the morning he is set to star in a career-changing blockbuster film.

"Every single one of you were so full of love and support for me and it made me feel very fearless, very supported and very courageous", she continued. Most of the time, it's both.

After she started tearing up, co-hosts Julie Chen and Sharon Osbourne grabbed her hands and Sheryl Underwood walked around the table to pat Tyler on the shoulder and put her arms around her.
