Israeli gunfire kills 1 Palestinian, wounds 6 others in eastern Gaza

Jordan's Al-Rad daily newspaper reported on Thursday morning that five senior Hamas leaders, including Khaled Mashaal, have left Qatar.

Joma'a is the second Palestinian killed this week by Israeli troops' gunfire during clashes with Israeli soldiers on the borderline area between the Hamas-ruled coastal enclave and Israel.

"It is supposed that no one should differ over supporting the Palestinian cause", he added, affirming that "our weapons will remain directed exclusively at the Zionist enemy [Israel] which we will continue to resist".

According to United Nations figures, roughly 460,000 Palestinians are now living in 12 refugee camps scattered across Lebanon.

The Palestinian Hamas movement controlling the Gaza Strip Wednesday lambasted Saudi Arabia's condition to restore ties with Qatar adding that the current Qatar-Arab fallout will favor Israel, which will exploit the situation against the Palestinian people.

Saudi Foreign Minister Adel al-Jubeir told reporters in Paris on Tuesday that Qatar must sever ties with Hamas and its historic parent, the pan-Arab Muslim Brotherhood.

Qatar is one of the few foreign backers of Hamas, and faces massive pressure from its Gulf neighbours to cut ties with the Islamic militant group.

Qatar has denied the allegations.

Israel pulled out of Gaza in 2005.

Hamas has fought three wars with Israel since 2008, tunneling under the border and firing thousands of rockets into Israel, and is avowedly committed to destroying the Jewish state.

The Islamist terror group seized Gaza in a near civil war with forces loyal to Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas in 2007.

The official also pointed to a recent visit to Egypt by the Hamas delegation and said the trip has been positive and will lead to a number of agreements, which would serve the interests of the two sides.
