He also compared Russian Federation to some Islamic states, saying gay people faced the death penalty there. "Why provoke him? But you know, I'm a judo master".

Putin's last comment comes in the wake of the news that Chechnya is persecuting the region's gay population, torturing and killing gay men in alleged concentration camps.

The four-part documentary includes scenes of Putin giving Stone a tour of the Kremlin, working out, playing hockey, and even driving through Moscow while Stone interviews him. "There are certain natural cycles which men probably have as well, just less manifested".

Stone had asked Putin whether the U.S. would emerge "dominant" in a "hot war".

Putin and Stone touched on topics from sports to Edward Snowden and Hillary Clinton, according to Variety.

'The United States, everywhere, all over the world, actively interferes with electoral campaigns of other countries, ' Putin said.

"Our first contact with Mr Snowden was in China, ' Putin told Stone, adding that Russian Federation had offered him asylum because 'we were told back then that this was a person who wanted to fight against violations of human rights".
