Trump 'very forceful' with Abbas, Netanyahu on restarting peace talks

Donald Trump was the first sitting president to visit the Western Wall.

On Wednesday, Secretary of State Rex Tillerson told reporters on Air Force One that President Trump "pressured" and was "very forceful" with both sides in the conflict, urging them to go back to the negotiating table.

"There is no regional peace process or anything like it".

It's not the first time that the world has been fascinated by these tiny moments between the two, and we're sure it won't be the last. "This is the time, 50 years on from the Six Day War, to shake off the heavy burden of millions of Palestinians and ensure the continued existence of the State of Israel as a Jewish and democratic state and homeland of the Jewish people for generations", he stated, vowing his party's political support for peace talks.

President Donald Trump's visit to the Middle East seems to have highlighted the importance of the relationship between the United States and Israel to the current administration, even if no breakthroughs in peace negotiations are expected anytime soon.

For some Israeli officials and Mideast experts, Trump's visit brought hope of making historic gains towards an Israeli-Palestinian peace accord in the context of a broader regional framework.

Trump has said that achieving a peace deal between Israelis and Palestinians is possible.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's government is widely seen as the most right-wing administration in Israeli history and is pressing settlement expansion despite global concern.

He believes that the most important result of Trump's visit is recognising the occupation, and he [Trump] refused to accompany any Israeli official to the Nativity Church. The International Christian Embassy in Jerusalem (ICEJ) echoed this sentiment in a strategy paper it delivered to Trump and U.S. Ambassador to Israel David Friedman.

"Thank you President Trump for your steadfast friendship to the Jewish people and the Jewish state!" said a beaming Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. "Jerusalem, like all of Israel was deserted on the sidelines of Ottoman Empire until the Jewish state".

Before departing for the Vatican - the final leg of the president's first overseas trip, which also included Saudi Arabia - Trump gave a keynote address at the Israel Museum.

"Three days ago, the U.S. added another $75 million to the aid package", Netanyahu said on Wednesday, without giving a timeframe for the money's arrival.
