ICE deportation officers conduct targeted enforcement operations every day in locations around the U.S.as part of the agency's ongoing efforts to protect the nation, uphold public safety and protect the integrity of the country's immigration laws and border controls, according to ICE.

The Trump administration boasted Friday of the almost 30,000 convicted criminal aliens Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) has detained since Donald Trump became president.

The arrests concluded on Wednesday and were led by Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE).

Since President Donald Trump signed a series of executive orders prioritizing immigration enforcement earlier this year, more than 41,000 known or suspected illegal immigrants have been arrested nationwide- a roughly 40 percent increase over the same period in 2016, according to ICE.

Some of the individuals had serious prior convictions, including a convicted rapist and a previously deported cocaine trafficker.

Among those who had previous criminal convictions, 43 were for drug offenses, 27 for domestic violence and 30 for driving under the influence. "By taking these individuals off the streets and removing them from the country, we're making our communities safer for everyone".

"He has been placed in immigration removal proceedings", ICE spokeswoman Virginia Kice said. According to reports, the hunger striker is Vitaly Novikov, a refugee from the former Soviet Union who is protesting ICE's plans to deport him to the Ukraine.

"With the new administration, anybody that's in violation of the immigration laws. are subject to arrest".

Kelly's phrasing aside, his figures square with the latest numbers out from Immigration and Customs Enforcement. The majority, 146, were identified as nationals from Mexico.

At least eight of the individuals arrested during the operation now face federal prosecution for re-entering the U.S. after being deported, a felony that carries a sentence up to 20 years in prison.

Los Angeles County represented the largest number detained at 93, while Riverside County had 26, Orange, 23, San Bernardino, 21 and Ventura, 14.

US immigration authorities made more than 41,000 arrests during President Trump's first 100 days in office, a 34.5 percent increase over the same period in 2016. Homeland Security databases indicated the man arrested in Los Angeles was deported in 2013 after serving a nine-year prison term, but returned to the United States illegally.

“His daughter is active-duty military, his son-in-law is active duty military, ” Pasquarella said. The numbers, according to ICE, represent a 20% increase over the same period a year ago. "He's been a valued member of his family and community for decades and they seem to be going after people for a conviction that's as old as 1992".

Anyone not being criminally prosecuted will be processed for deportation, ICE officials said.
