Graco recalls My Ride 65 auto seats in Canada for restraint defect

The issue pertains to the seats' harness webbing, which can break, and might not protect children in the event of a crash.

Graco is recalling the harness restraints on select My Ride 65 convertible vehicle seats that were manufactured during the summer of 2014 and sold in the U.S. As such, these auto seats fail to conform to Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard number 213, 'Child Restraint Systems, ' " the NHTSA said in a recall notice.

The recall affects certain My Ride 65 convertible seats made on July 22, 2014 with a code of 2014/06 on a tag that's on the webbing. The company is expected to begin the recall July 17, once replacement harnesses have been manufactured.

The agency noted in its report that two samples of the webbing used by Graco did not meet the required breaking strength standards in a test conducted January 29, 2015. Dealers will provide consumers with a replacement harness, free of charge.
