ESPN Reveals Details of Upcoming 'Mike & Mike' Breakup

Greenberg says his "run with Golic has been an incredible experience", but he's looking forward to a new challenge.

ESPN has signed Torre to a multiyear extension which will also afford him the opportunity to continue making regular appearances across a variety of shows and platforms including television shows Around the Horn, Pardon the Interruption, SportsNation, The Dan Le Batard Show with Stugotz and Highly Questionable.

Meanwhile, Golic will remain on the radio, where he will be joined by Trey Wingo. This, along with the Greenberg news, has always been expected and reported but formal confirmation is interesting and the task of replacing a show that was on the air for more than 15 years will be a sizable one.

The country's largest sports network took over a Times Square theater Tuesday morning, bringing out a bevy of famous athletes and a new generation of on-air personalities tasked with breathing new life into a network forced to adapt to subscriber losses and slowing ad sales.

New weekday lineups on ESPN and ESPN2 starting in 2018 led the network's Upfront presentation for media buyers at Minskoff Theatre in New York City on Tuesday.

The show will travel to the College Football Playoff National Championship game in Atlanta and to Minneapolis for Super Bowl LII. More details about the show will be announced at a later date.

Greenberg's new show, with various co-hosts and guests, will debut on January 1 on ESPN from 7-10 a.m. ET and will re-air on ESPN2 at 10 a.m.

The move will put an end to one of the longest-running sports radio partnerships which began in October 1998.

In an apparent effort to draw viewers to "SportsCenter", its crown jewel since 1979, ESPN has retooled the show, tying time slots to specific anchors, including Kenny Mayne, one of the network's best-known personalities. As Deitsch noted, there was no way ESPN would pay a mere radio host that kind of money. Torre joined ESPN in 2012. Golic's son, Mike Golic Jr., will also contribute to the show.
