Bus carrying 26 kids on DC field trip overturns on I-95

Preliminary information indicates SB passenger auto attempted to pass bus, lost control, came back across lanes, clipping front of bus, according to Maryland State Police.

"For reasons unknown at this time, the driver lost control of the vehicle, ran off the left side of the interstate, then back across all lanes of the interstate, hitting the front of the bus as it traveled across the roadway", said Shipley.

One adult and one child were flown by Maryland State Police and Delaware State Police for treatment.

Philadelphia School District Superintendent William Hite Jr. says that they are working on a transportation plan to help reunite parents with their children.

Others were transported to area hospitals by ambulance. No deaths have been reported in the accident, which saw the bus flip "at least once", according to AP.

Northbound lanes of I-95 are open, but traffic was moving slow through the area. The bus landed on its side and shredded dozens of feet of guardrail before coming to a stop. Three chaperones and a driver were also on the bus.
