Rain postpones Brewers at Cardinals game

Outfielder Tommy Pham is joining the team Friday, a sign that Fowler or Piscotty could end up hitting the 10-day disabled list.

Fowler is hitting.223 with four home runs and nine RBIs in the first year of a multi-year contract with St. Louis. Dexter Fowler had a two-run triple before leaving in the third with a right shoulder strain. Fortunately for the Redbirds, both Pham and starting left fielder Randal Grichuk are capable of playing center field, so the team still has multiple options in center field should Fowler require an absence of some degree.

Adam Wainwright allowed 10 hits and four runs in a no-decision, with Matt Bowman getting charged with the loss.

For a franchise many see as "rebuilding", the Milwaukee Brewers continue to create memories, including their first series win over the St. Louis Cardinals in three years thanks to a 5-4 win on Thursday night.

BREWERS KEY TRENDS: The Brewers are 4-1 in their last five games versus National League Central rivals and have won eight of their last 10 road games when they face a right-handed starter.

The teams combined for 25 hits and stranded 24 baserunners.

Milwaukee's Keon Broxton homered into the Brewers' bullpen with one out in the sixth to tie it and pinch-hitter Jesus Aguilar blasted a solo shot over the bullpen with two outs in the seventh as the visitors came from behind to knock off the Cardinals 5-4 Thursday night at Busch Stadium.

REDS 4, PIRATES 2 Joey Votto doubled twice, drove in two runs and scored twice, leading Tim Adleman and host Cincinnati over Pittsburgh. Yadier Molina's RBI single in the Cards half of the third put St. Louis back in the lead at 4-3. The Cardinals also moved Jhonny Peralta to High-A Palm Beach to officially begin his rehab assignment. Jimmy Nelson will get the ball for the Crew.
