Wisconsin churches on alert amid hunt for gun theft suspect

Chicago: A massive manhunt was underway in search of a "highly-dangerous" Wisconsin man who U.S. authorities said robbed a gun shop and sent a lengthy manifesto to President Donald Trump. "Despite extensive efforts, Jakubowski remains at large", Rock County Sheriff Robert D. Spoden announced in a press release.

About 30 minutes after the break-in at the Armageddon Gun Shop last week, Jakubowski's station wagon was found on fire, the result of arson, the sheriff's department said in a statement. Two tactical teams searched the house at 6:10 PM, but that lead turned out to be unfruitful as Jakubowski was not located. Federal, state and local departments have supplied officers to help with the manhunt.

The sheriff's office said in a statement Sunday night that it had contacted school districts to inform them that Jakubowski is still on the run so they can make decisions on any precautionary measures. Authorities suspect the 32-year-old of stealing handguns and rifles from a Janesville store April 4 and making threats to schools and public officials.

Services at Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Sun Prairie, near Madison, were canceled Sunday after a man who looked like Jakubowski was spotted near the church on Thursday, the Rock County Sheriff's Office said.

Spoden says Jakubowski recently sent a 161-page anti-government manifesto to the White House and gave a copy to one of his associates. "Revolution. It's time for change".

Monday is the fifth day of the search and Rock County Sheriff's Office Commander Troy Knudson said they are widening their search. Surveillance video of that robbery shows a man busting glass on a front door window to enter. She says he once got in trouble for teaching other kids how to make small bombs in soft drink bottles. "So remember this face".

Jakubowski has spent some time in prison for resisting arrest and for a drug charge. He was previously imprisoned for trying to disarm a police officer. He has green eyes and brown hair.

"As the search for Joseph A. Jakubowski (M/W, DOB: 07/21/84, 5'10", 200 lbs, green eyes and brown hair) continues this Sunday night, investigators are continuing to work through the evening to attempt to locate this armed and unsafe suspect. Jakubowski is considered armed and highly unsafe.
