Mount Union coach Larry Kehres selected to College Football Hall of Fame

Former South Carolina football coach Steve Spurrier, who led Florida to a national championship in 1996, is also among the selections for this year's College Football Hall of Fame class, which were announced by the National Football Foundation on Monday. He is still the youngest coach in college football history to win a national championship.

He signed a five-year, $96 million contract, and led the Broncos to a 45-12 record in four seasons as the starting quarterback, four AFC West titles, four first-round playoff byes and two Super Bowls, including a 24-10 win over the Carolina Panthers on February 7. Ford is third in ACC history in career winning percentage with a.760 mark.

Gibson, a standout wide receiver for the Spartans from 1975-78, was among 10 students chosen for this year's class, along with three coaches.

Ford and Spurrier will be inducted along with Larry Kehres, who won 92 percent of his games at Division III Mount Union (Ohio) from 1986-2012.

The 10 players and three coaches selected for induction will be honored at the National Football Foundation's annual dinner December 5 in NY.

Tennnessee football legend and two-time Super Bowl champion Peyton Manning has been named to the 2017 College Football Hall of Fame Class, as announcedon Mondayby the National Football Foundation (NFF) and the College Football Hall of Fame.

That season Urlacher recorded 154 tackles, five forced fumbles, three recovered fumbles, seven pass breakups, seven touchdowns, 42 points and had a 15.8-yard average on punt returns. Ford, like Swinney, is an Alabama graduate and he's hoping Swinney will match Ford by winning a national title at Clemson.

Manning played at Tennessee from 1994-1997, earning the starting job midway through his freshman season.

"To get inducted into the Hall of Fame is about as good as it gets", Spurrier said on ESPN Monday morning, according to the Twitter account of UF publicist Scott Carter. A member of the State of New Mexico Sports Hall of Fame, Urlacher's No. 44 jersey was retired by the Lobos in 2013.

He led USC to a 13-0 record that year and a 55-19 victory over Oklahoma in the Orange Bowl, securing a second straight national title. Active players are ineligible for the College Football Hall Of Fame, so Manning wasn't on the ballot until this year.
