Antonio Conte Explains Why He Recalled Nathan Ake

Chelsea have recalled Nathan Ake early from his season-long loan deal at Bournemouth.

The Italian manager Conte called back 21 years old defender back to Chelsea in order to strengthen his defending option.

Howe had expressed his disappointment at Ake's impending return to Chelsea after Bournemouth's 3-0 FA Cup defeat to League One side Millwall.

Nathan Ake struggled to find his form at Bournemouth initially but after scoring his first goal for the club in November against Stoke City, the 21-year-old became a regular at Bournemouth.

"I'm pleased he's come back".

"He has shown he deserves to stay in a great team like Chelsea".

Since the loan has been terminated quickly, Blues' boss Antonio Conte is reportedly willing to offer the services of Brazilian Kenedy to compensate. He can play on the left and in the middle.

"I was able to learn a lot from the (Bournemouth) manager (Eddie Howe)".

Conte has been impressed with Ake and could made a decision to activate the call-back clause inserted in the deal which took him to Bournemouth. "With Simon Francis's suspension and Marc Pugh's injury and now Nathan going back, our defensive resources are certainly stretched".

He said to BBC Sport: "It would be a huge blow to us as he has done so well".

Earlier in the season Ake scored a 93rd-minute victor for Bournemouth in the 4-3 comeback victory over Liverpool.

But talking to Sky Sports, former Chelsea assistant Wilkins says that Ake will be devastated at having to return to Stamford Bridge.
