Burke snubs Premier League interest to join RB Leipzig

Oliver Burke had been linked with a number of top Premier League clubs as well as Bayern Munich.

Leipzig sports director Ralf Rangnick says, "Burke is an outstanding 19-year-old talent with a huge amount of potential that hasn't played for the Scottish first team for nothing".

Manchester United have reportedly joined Arsenal in the transfer race to sign Nottingham Forest midfielder Oliver Burke.

McFadden, who won 48 caps for Scotland, has not watched Burke too much, but he revealed Motherwell boss and national team assistant Mark McGhee has high hopes for the player.

He said: "Oliver Burke is a good player and an important player for us". "I want to personally thank Gary Brazil (academy manager), Jack Lester (under 18s coach) and all the academy staff for everything they have done for me".

When Leipzig announced the signing on Sunday, Forest were immediately lambasted by former player Stan Collymore who said he was "disgusted" at the decision to sell Burke while furious supporters vented their anger at the club's Kuwaiti owner Fawaz Al Hasawi.

The 19-year-old Kirkcaldy-born winger is in Gordon Strachan's Scotland squad for the upcoming World Cup qualifier against Malta and pushed for a starting place with his fourth goal of the season in a 3-1 win over Leeds.

Fawaz Al Hasawi has not been the most popular of figures among the Nottingham Forest supporters since his takeover of the club back in the summer of 2012.

After receiving enormous criticism on social media following Burke's departure, Reds owner Al-Hasawi confidently explained on Twitter the club's plan to utilise the funds to strengthen the squad.

"Ralf Rangnick (manager) was a huge part of my decision to choose them over a number of other interested clubs in both the United Kingdom and Europe".

"RB Leipzig has a desire to be one of the top clubs in Europe and I am excited to be a part of that and start the next chapter in my footballing career".
